CHARTER AMENDMENT: REPEAL OF RANKED-CHOICE VOTING FOR CITY OFFICES

Should the City Charter be amended to repeal ranked-choice voting to elect the Mayor and City Council and reinstate the primary election (if needed) to determine candidates for the general election?

A ‘yes’ vote means you want to stop using ranked-choice voting to elect the Mayor and City Council.

A ‘no’ vote means you want to continue to use ranked-choice voting to elect the Mayor and City Council.


When to Vote? 

1. Early Voting - Absentee Voting Information -  Bloomington Civic Plaza  1800 W Old Shakopee Rd - Art Center     (follow the signs)   8 am - 4:30 pm
Keep in mind that you will be voting absentee where your ballot will be put in two envelopes and couriered  to Hennepin County where Hennepin County employees will feed your ballots into their machines and the results recorded on a spreadsheet there, not in Bloomington. These ballots will be in the custody of Hennepin County while early-absentee voting is in place.

2.  Direct Balloting Information -  October 18, 2024     Bloomington City Hall
Direct Balloting takes place at Bloomington Civic Plaza. You can  fill out your ballot and  feed your ballot into the voting machine at City Hall.

*These ballots are not in custody of Hennepin County but stored in a secured room with key card access in Bloomington City Hall.

    3. Extra Voting hours - Bloomington City Hall 

  • Saturday, October 26 - 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 29  - 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. 
  • Saturday, November 2 - 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 3 -  9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Monday, November 4 - 8 a.m. - 5 p.

4. Election Day November 5, 2024   7 a.m. - 8 p.m. at your polling place.

How Can I Become an Election Judge? 
Information from the City Clerk

Training Time Commitment: Three-hour training session and one-hour pollbook training session for all judges.  Additional training for Assistant and Head judges.

Work Commitment:  Shifts available are half-day or full-day shifts at the same polling place.  You may indicate your desired polling place. For a list of polling places click here.
